INDYCAR's "Fast Six" is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.
A hero’s welcome
When Takuma Sato, winner of the 101st Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by PennGrade Motor Oil, arrived in Tokyo for a media tour in his homeland this week, fans lined up at the airport to greet him. Cameras and memorabilia in hand, they didn’t miss the opportunity to show the first Japanese winner of the Indy 500 how proud they are.

The California kid
If you’re looking for the latest in Verizon IndyCar Series fashion, Alexander Rossi just posted pics of his hip new shirts and sweatshirts, which reminds us of his 100th Indy 500 win a year ago and celebrates his West Coast roots and Midwestern home. When you’re running on empty, put on one of Rossi’s “clutch and chill” shirts. We’re sure you’ll get across the finish line with just enough fuel.
Here it is...my first line of Alexander Rossi merchandise! Cali & Indy inspired... 🌴🏎 Check out all designs on https://t.co/ORuoApv2DT pic.twitter.com/oHFW7RXbGB
Rossi, Conor Daly and James Hinchcliffe and some friends apparently decided to take out their mid-season frustrations by hurling axes for fun. Following the high-drama Rainguard Water Sealers 600 in Texas last weekend, this game is a little creepy.
Just some casual axe throwing @badaxethrowing in Indy. Making me feel extra Canadian.

Reigning Verizon IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud’s excitement about a test this week at Watkins Glen International is expected, but we didn’t know of the French driver’s affection for the all-American hot dog. Wondering which condiments he favors?
Settling in for 2 days of testing at @WGI. Super tricky track, but very tasty hot dogs 🌭. #IndyCar #racing pic.twitter.com/6DxiD3oVGD
Next step, Madame Tussauds…
We’ll worry when Graham Rahal starts making wax molds of himself, but Rahal’s wife, NHRA drag racer Courtney Force, is apparently already a little put off by the new basement décor in their home.
Hey @courtneyforce, our basement is looking good! #MannequinChallenge take 2 😂😂😂 Mid O 2016, Indy 2016, Indy 2014! pic.twitter.com/zytIJSc21A
Super cute Tex
Little Beau Power celebrated his dad’s win Saturday night at Texas Motor Speedway with the required headwear.
Good thing the little guy was awake so I could let him know the great news that we won @txmotorspeedway !! #indycar #chevy #raingaurd600
