INDYCAR Fast Six: What's trending in @IndyCar from Oct. 12-18

Updated:

INDYCAR’s “Fast Six” is a report derived from all things found online about Verizon IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We seek and find pics and quips as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence into tweets, Instagrams and more. Check back regularly when we post the latest.

Not fading away

In Los Angeles, James Hinchcliffe and partner Sharna Burgess continued to impress everyone this week, as “Dancing with the Stars” celebrated Latin night. Hinch got his first spray tan and they performed a rumba that set the Internet on fire, one flaming emoji after another. (No word yet on whether Hinch’s tan is fading or if future bronzing will be necessary.)

Move over, Helio Castroneves (or not)

The rumba so impressed judge Julianne Hough, who won Season 5 with Helio Castroneves, that she declared Hinchcliffe the best male celebrity dancer to compete on the show -- ever. We knew Castroneves’ competitive nerve was tweaked when we saw this:

If@juliannehough said he is the best dancer...I can only agree with her...that means he have a better partner @SharnaBurgess...ops!hahahaha

Pitbull’s ‘Greenlight’ on #DWTS

Looks like the racing bug is biting the #DWTS cast. Guest judge Pitbull opened the show with his “Greenlight,” while Burgess and Witney Carson, dressed in black with what looked to be checkered flag trim, danced him to the stage.

The French connection

Astor Cup in hand, Verizon IndyCar Series champion Simon Pagenaud is touring his native France this week. His work mission is to tell his story to the French media, but from the looks of his social media accounts, Pagenaud is having fun with his little dog (Norman), too.

Honoring #Lionheart

The five-year anniversary of Dan Wheldon’s death at Las Vegas Motor Speedway passed Oct. 16, but not without photos and memories showing up on many social media accounts. Holly, Dan’s sister, had this to say:

5 years on and it's still tough to accept that your not here with us. Miss you so much bro. Love you xxx #Legend #Champion #Lionheart pic.twitter.com/ToiAsQRglo

A #diaversary in the paddock

Charlie Kimball reminded us this week that he has been living with Type 1 diabetes for nine years. It’s clearly not keeping the Chip Ganassi Racing Teams driver out of the fast lane.

Today is my #diaversary. I've been living with #t1d for 9 years and have no plans on slowing down! #diabetes pic.twitter.com/w7RdJWdJC0
